Clean energy of the future

LC Technologies is a company based in Aveiro with extensive experience in the development of high-tech equipment and instrumentation based on microwaves and millimeter waves for international laboratories.
It is true that there is an incessant search for the best, cheapest and cleanest energy source. And this is where LC Technologies solutions come in, allowing measurements to be taken in nuclear fusion plasmas, that is, the clean energy of the future.

Nuclear fusion is the process in which two or more atomic nuclei join together and form another nucleus of greater atomic number. It takes a lot of energy to happen but generally releases a lot more energy than it consumes.
LC solutions include diagnostic instruments that employ millimeter waves, with frequencies from 30 to 300GHz, and that can measure in fusion plasma at a very high temperature of several million degrees.

The PC104 model PCM-3343EF controllers are used in these fusion plasma measurement instruments, since the customer needed a stable and reliable industrial solution that would guarantee compatibility with the x86 architecture, as they use software with a wide longevity . Until today, we would not imagine a world without oil, however, the truth is that in this field there seems to be no energy source that compares to nuclear fusion. But there are many obstacles to overcome and the technology still has to evolve.

In other words, instead of splitting atoms to release energy as in nuclear fission, nuclear fusion combines small hydrogen atoms into a plasma that produces energy. This plasma produces several times more energy than that which produces fission. This requires a controlled environment with temperatures above 100 million degrees Celsius.

LC solutions include diagnostic instruments that employ millimeter waves with frequencies from 30 to 300GHz and can measure in fusion plasma at a very high temperature of several million degrees.

Because it is precisely in these fusion plasma measuring instruments that Advantech's PC104 controllers model PCM-3343EF are used, since the customer needed a stable and reliable industrial solution that would guarantee compatibility with the x86 architecture, as they use software with a vast longevity.

A world without oil has never been so envisioned as we see today and the truth is that in this field there seems to be no energy source that compares to nuclear fusion. But there are many obstacles to overcome and the technology still has to evolve.
What support did you find from F.Fonseca and the brand?
F.Fonseca technically advised LC Technologies in order to find an industrial solution that would meet the demanding requirements of this application. The Advantech brand allowed precisely to provide this solution always with the required quality and unconditional technical support.
Brand:
Advantech.
Type(s) of product(s) used:
The PC/104 board model PCM-3343 was used with low consumption CPU (< 5 Watts) Vortex86DX at 800 MHz with 256MB of DDR2 SDRAM memory without ventilation.
This card supports VGA and 24-bit LVDS or TTL with resolution up to 1024 x 768.
The two LAN ports avoid the use of a switch and allow the use of two different networks.
On the other hand, this board includes 16-bit digital inputs and outputs for additional features such as alarms or remote control.
GPIO board with 16-bit input and output for additional functionalities like alarms or remote control.
